About Maryann
Woodworking has been an overwhelming passion of mine since I was a young girl. For me, every cut of of wood is artwork in itself. From the unique grains of black walnut to the aroma of freshly cut Douglas fir, I love it all.
I've designed and built custom furniture of all sorts including a dresser/changing table for my grandson, entertainment centers, end tables and bookshelves for clients, and full bedroom sets for my children.
On a smaller scale I enjoy crafting everything from decorative boxes to lamps, rocking horses to mirrors and picture frames to children's toys. More than anything, I love building clocks, be it a simple desktop clock or a mantelpiece majesty. At times my desire to create exceeded my abilities, so I came by a lot of things the hard way, but fulfilling my dreams in wood has always been worth it.
To share my passion with others, I started instructing women's woodworking classes through the Park & Rec over two years ago. Due to overwhelming demand I've decided to offer more classes at more times to allow people to attend when it's most convenient for them.
Two years ago it gave me unbelievable joy and pride to watch my first students admire their finished pieces. That feeling is still there every time I watch a student smile proudly and run their hand over the smooth finish of the wood.
